Stillwater: Community Thread’s Holiday Hope program again expects high demand

Demand for Toys Expected to Soar in Stillwater Area as Holiday Hope Program Sees High Registration Numbers

In the Stillwater area, Community Thread's annual Holiday Hope program is gearing up to provide gifts to hundreds of children and adults facing financial hardship. The program, which serves families within the Stillwater Area School District, has already seen over 300 registrations as of this week.

The organization is collecting new, unwrapped toys valued at $15 or more for children ages birth to grade 12, with a range of suggested gifts including toys, books, arts and crafts kits, science sets, and sports memorabilia. This year, Community Thread aims to serve an even larger number of individuals than last year's record-breaking 3,013 recipients.

However, the program has taken on a slightly different approach this year. Instead of distributing gift cards or holiday meals, Holiday Hope will be providing Cub grocery gift cards and groceries to its Thrive Program participants – older adults and adults with disabilities who receive free or reduced-priced memberships.

"We're expecting a high demand for our gifts this year," said Cathleen Hess, development and communications director at Community Thread. "People are feeling a squeeze in these uncertain times, but we know that the St. Croix Valley has a tradition of coming together to support those in need."

Registration numbers have been impressive, with over 300 families already signed up for the program. Donations can be dropped off at Community Thread or local Holiday Hope Collection Sites by December 12.

Still can't believe we're gonna have another year of kids goin' without much for Christmas 🎄👀. I mean, it's crazy that there are still so many families strugglin' to make ends meet in the Stillwater area. Like, what happened to the good ol' days when everyone knew their neighbors and looked out for each other? It feels like we've lost some of that community spirit 🤦‍♀️.

But I guess it's great to see people comin' together to help those in need. Community Thread is doin' a solid with this Holiday Hope program, and I'm hopin' they can serve even more folks than last year. Maybe we can all learn from each other and find ways to support our neighbors who are goin' through tough times 🤝.

You know, back in my day, we didn't need a special program like that. We just used our extra change or made some crafts to give to each other as gifts. It was simple, but it worked 💕. Guess you could say I'm feelin' a little nostalgic for the good ol' days 📚.

omg i cant beleev how many peopel r riteing in!! 🤯 like seriously, the demand for toys is gonna be thru the roof this year! its so cool that Community Thread is takin care of all those famileis, they must be doin somethin rite. 👏 and i love how they're givin out groceries 2 the seniors, thats just so kind 🤗. like we need more ppl like Cathleen Hess who cares about makin a diffrnce in peopelz lives 😊

I'm so down to help out with this holiday thing... I just wish I could bring some of my old toys from my childhood 🤷‍♀️. Do they still have those really cool Tamagotchis that everyone had back in the 90s? I'm trying to get in touch with my inner kid and figure out what's going on, but honestly, can someone explain what a Thrive Program is? It sounds like some kind of program for seniors or something 🤔. And how do you even collect groceries? Do they need volunteers to sort it all out?

🤦‍♀️ stillwater area, huh? only good thing about it is the holiday hope program is actually doing something right... i mean, who doesn't love free groceries for the elderly? 🛍️ meanwhile, 300 families already signed up, I wonder if they're just trying to keep track of all those toys or if there's a secret underground toy-counting party happening in stillwater 🎁😏

man this holiday hope program is literally gonna change lives for so many people in stillwater 🤩 gotta love the community spirit! i mean, 300+ registrations already? that's insane! i'm all about supporting orgs like community thread that put in the hard work to bring joy and hope to those who need it most. btw, $15+ value gifts are a must - can't wait to see what everyone donates 🎁

🤑 I think it's kinda weird that people are raving about the Holiday Hope program without really considering the bigger picture 🤔. Like, sure, kids and adults who are struggling financially need gifts and groceries, but what about those who can't even afford basic necessities? 🚽 It's easy to feel all warm and fuzzy about a charity that provides for some of the most vulnerable members of our community, but have we really thought about how it might affect others in similar situations?

And let's be real, Cub grocery gift cards aren't exactly the most exciting gifts 😐. I mean, who doesn't love a good box of groceries? 🍞 But seriously, shouldn't we be trying to address the root causes of poverty and economic inequality rather than just patching things up with Band-Aid solutions?

I'm not saying the Holiday Hope program is bad or anything, but maybe we should be having more nuanced conversations about how to support our community members in a way that's more sustainable and equitable 💸. Just something to think about 🤓

Ugh, like, I'm so done with people making it sound all perfect on social media 🙄... stillwater area doing this holiday hope program? sounds super cool, but like, isn't everyone already rich enough to afford a few toys 🤑 meanwhile they're trying to get 300 families signed up and only need $15+ worth of stuff? that's actually kinda awesome! anyway, cub grocery gift cards for the adults? genius idea, I guess...

I'm so down for this holiday thing 🎄! It's amazing that Community Thread is taking the initiative to provide for those who need it most. I mean, $15 or more on toys? That's like, super generous, you know? 🤩 The fact that they're adapting their program to cater to older adults and adults with disabilities is really cool too. I love how the community is coming together to support one another in uncertain times ❤️.

I'm not sure why there aren't more people signing up for this though 😐. Like, what's not to love about getting some new toys or groceries? 🎁🍽️ Anyway, I hope they reach their goal and get to help even more people out this holiday season. Fingers crossed! 🤞

omg i cant believe they're expecting a huge demand for toys this year 😲 the holiday hope program is literally saving so many lives 🎁 it's amazing that people are coming together like that to support each other during hard times 💕

Ugh 🤯 I just love this time of year! You know what's crazy? People actually think about others for once 🎁. Anyway, Community Thread's Holiday Hope program is gonna be lit this year with over 300 families already signed up. But honestly, $15 worth of gifts might not even cover a decent toy at the mall right now 💸. Still, I gotta give 'em credit - serving Thrive Program participants with grocery gift cards and groceries is some next-level stuff 🙌. It's awesome to see people in the St. Croix Valley rallying around each other during tough times. Fingers crossed they can make it happen this year!

I'm kinda surprised they're expecting a high demand this year... like, don't get me wrong, it's great that the Holiday Hope program is still going strong and all, but with the economy being kinda shaky right now, I thought people would be trying to pinch pennies instead of splurging on toys? 🤔 Still, if more people are coming forward to help out, that's def a positive trend. Also, I'm curious about those grocery gift cards for older adults... it's awesome that Community Thread is adapting the program to meet their needs, even if it means taking on some new costs. 🛍️

man, think about it... people are feeling the squeeze, huh? like they're juggling too many balls at once... work, bills, stuff... but then something like Holiday Hope comes along and says "hey, we got you"... & people are all like "yaaas, count me in!" 🤝

it's wild to think about how a community can come together like that. like, it's not just about giving gifts or helping out with groceries... it's about showing up for each other, you know? when we're feeling lost or struggling, someone like Cathleen Hess is there to help us find our way back 🌈

and registration numbers are through the roof! what does that say about us as a society? do we really need a program like Holiday Hope to remind us of the importance of community? i mean, shouldn't it be just a part of life or something?

Stillwater area is gonna be lit this holiday season with the Holiday Hope program 🎄🎁! With over 300 fams registered already, I'm expecting a massive demand for toys that are valued at $15+ 🤑. It's heartwarming to see the community coming together to support those in need, especially during tough times.

I've got to say, though, it's interesting that they're focusing on older adults and folks with disabilities this year 🤝. Providing groceries and Cub gift cards is a great way to go beyond just toys and books. I'm curious to see how many people are gonna take 'em up on the offer 👀.

One thing that's got me thinking, though: what if we're not doing enough for our most vulnerable neighbors? Are there other organizations out there that offer similar programs or support services in the Stillwater area? We should definitely be checking into that 🤔.

omg i love that people in stillwater area r coming together 2 support those in need 💖!!! it's so heartwarming 2 hear about Community Thread's Holiday Hope program - $300+ registrations already? wow that's amazing! 🤩 they r doing some awesome things this year, like providing groceries 4 adults with disabilities & older adults. that's so generous of them 👏 i'm sure those people will really appreciate it. can't wait 2 see the smiles on their faces when they get their gifts 🎁🎉

stillwater's holiday hope program is cool i guess 🤔. its good that they're collecting toys for the kids but honestly, $15 or more for toys seems kinda steep considering the current economy thingy 🤑. i mean, who can afford that? maybe they should also collect some cheaper stuff like puzzles or games instead? and what's with the shift to cub grocery gift cards and groceries for older adults and disabled folks? it sounds like a good idea but idk if people will actually use them without getting weird looks from their families 🤷‍♀️. anyhoo, 300+ registrations is pretty impressive tho! 👍

You know, I was just talking to my grandkids the other day about holidays and giving back, and it really got me thinking... 🤔 In this uncertain time, people are feeling the pinch for sure. But what's amazing is that there are still so many good-hearted folks out there who care enough to make a difference.

I'm all for those community programs like Holiday Hope, they're doing some great work! And I love that Community Thread has taken a different approach this year to support older adults and adults with disabilities. It's about time we prioritize our seniors, you know? 🙏

Now, I do wish people wouldn't feel the need to go into debt just to get by. But hey, at least there are folks out there who will step up and lend a helping hand (or in this case, a toy or two). It's heartwarming to see that community spirit still going strong! ❤️

I feel so bad for those families in Stillwater who are struggling financially 🤕. It's amazing that Community Thread is stepping up to help them out with gifts and groceries 🎁. I'm thinking of donating some toys and books for the kids, it'd be a small way to make a big difference 📚. The Thrive Program participants sound like they're really in need, I hope they get all the help they can use 👍. It's awesome that the community is coming together like this, it's not just about giving gifts but also about spreading some holiday cheer and love ❤️.

omg this is so heartwarming 🤩!! people are really stepping up their holiday spirit in the Stillwater area, it's amazing to see! i've seen some of my friends posting pics of them dropping off donations at Community Thread and it's literally melting my heart ❤️. i'm also loving that Holiday Hope is adapting its program to help older adults and adults with disabilities - it's so important we're showing love and support for our community members who need it most 🎁. with all the uncertainty going on, it's refreshing to see people coming together like this 🤝, let's keep spreading kindness and cheer this holiday season! ✨

Just read about Stillwater's holiday hope program 🎁 and it got me thinking... what's the point of all the gifts? I mean, sure, it's nice that people want to help out, but can't we just focus on making a positive impact in our daily lives instead of relying on stuff? Like, have you seen your own closet? You've got enough clothes and toys from when you were a kid... 🤷‍♀️ Stillwater's doing good work, though. I'll definitely be checking out how to donate something 🛍️
