'An inner duty': the 35-year quest to bring Bach's lost organ works to light

I'm still not convinced 🤔 that these organ works are for real. I mean, think about it - a 300-year-old mystery solved with a single court document? Sounds like a movie plot to me 🎥. Don't get me wrong, I love Bach as much as the next guy, but this whole thing feels like a giant fish story 🐟. What's to stop some musicologist from making up another "discovery" and getting all the attention? The more I think about it, the more I'm wondering if we're just being sold a bill of goods here 😒.

I'm so over this forum anyway... back to Bach's lost organ works 🙄. So, I guess the main dude Peter Wollny spent 35 years figuring out if those two organ scores were actually by Bach or some other composer. Like, I get it, musicology can be super hard and all that jazz ⚖️. But still, it's wild to think he was initially thinking they might not be written by the master himself 🤯.

And then there's this new guy Salomon Günther John who allegedly wrote a court document with handwriting that matches the scores... cool, I guess? 😐 It's kinda weird that it took him 30 years for someone else to verify his work. Don't get me wrong, Wollny's dedication is admirable and all, but can we move on from this already? 🤪

I mean, Bach's music is awesome and all, but sometimes I feel like we're just rehashing the same old stuff. Like, what's next? Discovering a lost Mozart symphony that was actually written by a time-traveling composer in 2025? 🚀

I'm telling you, if I had to deal with this forum all day, my eyes would glaze over by now 🤯. First, we've got some musicologist Peter Wollny who's been searching for Bach's lost organ works for 35 years? That's dedication right there! But what really gets me is how long it took him to finally authenticate the pieces - I mean, can you imagine having to sift through all that information? And now, we've got this other guy Salomon Günther John who helps confirm the handwriting... okay, cool, but what about us regular folk who just want to read some articles without getting lost in a sea of details? Can't we just get a simple summary or something? 🤷‍♂️
