Brazil’s Copa Libertadores run goes on as Palmeiras-Flamengo meet in final

Brazil's grip on the Copa Libertadores continues as two of its top teams, Palmeiras and Flamengo, face off in the continental final at Lima's Monumental Stadium. The winner will claim their eighth title since 2014, with Brazil dominating the tournament for the past nine years.

Flamengo currently leads Palmeiras by five points in the Brazilian Serie A table, having finished second last season behind Botafogo, who won both the domestic league and the Copa Libertadores. Both teams also made it to the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores, with Flamengo coming from behind to beat Argentina's Racing Club 2-1 on penalties after a scoreless draw.

Palmeiras' journey to the final was marked by an impressive comeback against Ecuador's Liga Deportiva in the semifinals. Raphael Veiga scored twice and helped his team overturn a 3-0 first-leg deficit with a 4-0 victory. Abel Ferreira's side won all six of their group stage matches, while seeing off Argentina's River Plate in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, Flamengo reached the final after holding on to a 1-0 lead against Racing Club despite playing most of the second half with 10 men following Gonzalo Plata's red card. They had previously needed penalties to beat Estudiantes of Argentina in the quarterfinals.

The two teams have a rich history in the tournament, with Palmeiras having won three titles and Flamengo claiming four. However, Flamengo hold the edge in their head-to-head record, winning 16 times against Palmeiras' 15 victories.

Palmeiras are without midfielder Figueiredo due to a cruciate ligament injury, while forward Lucas Evangelista misses out with a thigh problem. Former Tottenham midfielder Paulinho is also ruled out by a shin injury. However, Weverton's return from a fractured hand has not been entirely ruled out after his recent training sessions.

Flamengo are without Gonzalo Plata and Pedro due to suspension and injury respectively. Henrique scored a late equaliser in their most recent league match against Atletico Mineiro and is pushing for a start against Palmeiras.

The Copa Libertadores final promises to be an intense encounter between two of Brazil's top teams, with the winner claiming bragging rights and the coveted continental trophy.

Ugh, I'm so stoked for the Copa Libertadores final!!! 🤩 Both Palmeiras and Flamengo are absolute beasts on the pitch right now! The tension is building up, and I just know it's gonna be a nail-biter of a match! 5 points between them in the Serie A table? That's insane! I'm all for Abel Ferreira leading Palmeiras to victory, but Flamengo's squad depth is looking pretty solid. Weverton's back from his injury, and Henrique is pushing hard for a start... this could get interesting!

And can we talk about the head-to-head record between these two teams?! 16-15 in Flamengo's favor? That's still an incredible stat! But I'm not gonna lie, I'm a bit worried about Palmeiras without Figueiredo and Lucas Evangelista. They're gonna need to be on top of their game if they wanna take down the mighty Flamengo!

I just know this match is gonna be a masterclass from start to finish. The intensity, the passion, the skill... it's all gonna come together in a beautiful display of football! Bring it on, Copa Libertadores final!! 🏆🔥

omg i cant wait 4 dis match!!! both palmeiras & flamengo r so talented and this gonna b such a closely contested game 🤩 Flamengo's head-to-head record against Palmeiras is insane lol, but palmeiras have been on fire in the semis and i think they can pull off an upset 💥 Weverton's back from injury and could be the difference maker 🙌 this final is gonna b so intense!!! who u got? 🤔

OMG u guys I cant even 🤯 Flamengo vs Palmeiras in the Copa Libertadores final is gonna be EPIC!!! its like the ultimate showdown between 2 Brazilian giants and whoever wins gets to claim that 8th title since 2014 🏆💥 Flamengo has been on fire lately with Henrique scoring some crucial goals for them, I think they got this one! 💪 Palmeiras is gonna give it their all tho, they came back from a 3-0 deficit in the semifinals and Raphael Veiga scored those sick goals 😲 Weverton's return from his fractured hand could be just what Palmeiras needs to take down Flamengo 🤞 The head-to-head record between these two teams is insane with Flamengo winning 16 times against Palmeiras' 15 victories, but lets not count out Palmeiras just yet! 💥🔥

I'm loving this! The Copa Libertadores is always such an exciting tournament, but this year it feels like it's really coming down to the wire 🤯🏆 Flamengo and Palmeiras are both incredible teams with so much history in the competition, and it's going to be tough for either side to come out on top. I'm curious to see how Abel Ferreira's tactics will match up against Rudi García's Flamengo - both coaches have shown they're more than capable of adapting to different situations. And with Palmeiras missing a few key players due to injury, it's going to be interesting to see how Raphael Veiga and the team manage without their top midfielder ⏰💪

🤯 The Copa Libertadores has been a total dominance fest for Brazil lately 🇧🇷! Since 2014, those Brazilian teams are like unstoppable machines 💪. Palmeiras and Flamengo facing off in the final is gonna be a thriller 😲. Did you know that if you look at their head-to-head record, Flamengo have won 16 times against Palmeiras' 15 wins? That's crazy close 🤯. Also, if you check the stats on their Serie A performances this season, Flamengo are top with 75 points from 32 matches 📊. Meanwhile, Palmeiras are in 3rd place with 60 points from 32 matches 😬.

But let's look at some numbers to make it more interesting 📈:

🔹 The past 9 years of Copa Libertadores have seen Brazil dominate the tournament 🇧🇷.

🔹 Over the past 5 years, Flamengo and Palmeiras together have won 3 out of 5 Copa Libertadores titles 🏆.

🔹 Both teams have been pretty consistent in their Serie A performances, with no team dropping below 50 points from 32 matches this season ⚽️.

I'm thinking what could make this final super interesting 🤔. Both teams have had some amazing comebacks in the tournament already! Palmeiras' 3-0 deficit to be overturned is insane, and Flamengo's penalty win against Racing Club was a huge turning point for them 💪. On the other hand, we need to keep an eye out on injuries since neither team can afford any major setbacks 🤕. I'm loving the head-to-head record between these two teams too, it always makes for thrilling matches! With Weverton potentially back from injury and Henrique pushing for a start, anything can happen in this one 😏. Should be a fantastic game! 👏

Idk about this Copa Libertadores hype 🤔, it just seems like another fad to me. Both Palmeiras and Flamengo have been winning cups for years now and it's getting old. I mean, can't we talk about something else for a change? Like the latest plant-based milk trends or sustainable fashion? 🌿💼

And don't even get me started on the teams themselves. Palmeiras has that rich history, but Flamengo just seems like a team with a bunch of injured players right now 😂. And what's up with all these suspensions and injuries? It's like they're trying to make it look more exciting than it actually is.

I swear, every year it's the same thing. Copa Libertadores final, who will win, yadda yadda... 🙄 Can't we just talk about something new for once? Like the latest gaming trends or a good Netflix show? 🎮📺

I'm so hyped for this one! 😆 I've been following both Palmeiras and Flamengo all season, and it's been amazing to see how far they've come. As a huge fan of football, there's nothing quite like the thrill of watching these two giants go head-to-head in the Copa Libertadores final.

I think what really excites me about this match is the history between the two teams. Palmeiras have such a rich tradition in South American football, and Flamengo are always so unpredictable - they can either blow you away or leave you wanting more! 😅 The stakes are high, with both teams fighting for their eighth title since 2014, and I just know it's going to be an incredible battle.

Of course, there are some injuries to worry about - Figueiredo for Palmeiras is a big loss, but Weverton could make a difference on the pitch. For Flamengo, Henrique is looking to push for a start after scoring that late equaliser against Atletico Mineiro... fingers crossed for him! 🤞 Either way, it's shaping up to be an epic showdown between two of Brazil's top teams, and I'm already counting down the days until kickoff. ⏰

I was just at the park yesterday and I saw this crazy pigeon flying around my head 😂 like it was in a video game or something! Anyway, back to football... I mean, Copa Libertadores 🏆. It's so cool how both Palmeiras and Flamengo are from Brazil, I love watching Brazilian soccer with my friends over the internet 📺. We always have the best discussions about the players and teams. Speaking of which, have you guys tried that new coffee shop near the stadium? I heard their matcha latte is amazing ☕️! Oh, and did I tell you I got tickets to a concert next month? It's going to be so lit 🎉!

🤔 So I'm thinking... both Palmeiras and Flamengo have been on fire this season! 💥 But if I had to pick a winner, I'd say Flamengo has got this 🎉. They're currently leading in the Serie A table and they came from behind to beat Racing Club in the Copa Libertadores quarterfinals. That takes a lot of guts! 😅 Also, their head-to-head record against Palmeiras is pretty impressive. But at the same time, I think Abel Ferreira's team is gonna give it a good fight. They've got some key players missing with injuries, but Weverton might just be back from his hand injury in time for the final... so that's a wild card 🤯. What do you guys think?

🏆 The stage is set for an epic battle in Lima! I'm loving how both Palmeiras and Flamengo are bringing their A-game, with each team having made impressive comebacks throughout the tournament. It's going to be a real nail-biter, especially with some key players missing from both squads 🤕. On one hand, you've got Palmeiras' impressive form in the group stages, but Flamengo's ability to hold on despite playing with 10 men is a testament to their team spirit 💪.

I think this final is going to be all about set pieces and counter-attacks – both teams are known for their high-intensity pressing and quick transitions. The question is, who'll come out on top? 🤔 Either way, it's going to be an electric atmosphere in the Monumental Stadium, and I'm hyped to see how this one unfolds! 🔥

Ugh I cant believe this 🤯 Flamengo got this far despite all the injuries they're carrying around 💔 Henrique score that equalizer against Atletico Mineiro and now he's pushing for a start? Like how is he going to keep up with Palmeiras? 😩 They've been on fire all season long and I'm worried they're gonna get taken down by Flamengo's sheer willpower 🔥 Abel Ferreira's got this team wrapped around his finger, he's like a magician or something 💫

🤔 this Copa Libertadores thing is getting so intense! i mean, Brazil's dominance in the tournament for the past 9 years is crazy... it's like they're making it look easy, you know? 🏆 but on a more serious note, the fact that Flamengo and Palmeiras are going head-to-head again is gonna be epic. their rivalry is already so deep-seated, and now with the title at stake... it's like the whole of Brazil is watching. 📺 i'm curious to see how Abel Ferreira's Palmeiras will recover from losing Figueiredo - that midfield setup was solid, but they might struggle without him. on the other hand, Flamengo's got this crazy form, and Henrique's been looking 🔥 lately... we should be in for a treat! 🎉

I don’t usually comment but... I think it’s crazy how one team has dominated the tournament for 9 years straight! 🤯 Brazil really knows how to put on a show when it comes to South American football. Palmeiras and Flamengo are both incredible teams with rich histories, but at the same time, it feels like this is going to be a clash of styles. Flamengo's aggressive press might not play nicely into Palmeiras' possession-based game, while Palmeiras' comeback story could give Flamengo some trouble.

It’s also interesting that they’ve been playing most of the games with 10 men or less for Flamengo, which shows how tough their team is right now. 🤕 I don’t know if there's a weakness in either side that they can exploit, but it’s going to be a battle from start to finish. Can't wait to see who comes out on top! 💪

I'm thinking that both Palmeiras & Flamengo are gonna bring their A-game 2 Lima's Monumental Stadium 🏟️🔥! It's gonna be a nail-biter, especially w/ Palmeiras being without Figueiredo & Lucas Evangelista 🤕💔. Flamengo's got a slight edge w/ their head-to-head record, but Abel Ferreira's team has shown some serious grit in the tournament 🎯💪. Weverton's return could be just the boost they need! 🔥👊

Yaaas, it's gonna be a crazy match 🤩! I'm low-key teaming up with Flamengo here - their squad looks fire 🔥 with Henrique coming back from injury, they're gonna give Palmeiras a run for their money 💪. Abel Ferreira's got some tricks up his sleeve too, that comeback against Liga Deportiva was insane 🤯! Can't wait to see who'll lift the trophy next 🏆

the fact that palmeiras has been dominating brazil in the coppa libertadores for so long is starting to feel like a familiar story 🤔. they've won 8 titles since 2014 and have been consistently strong throughout. but, flamengo is looking fierce right now 💪. their comeback against racing club was insane, and henrique's form in recent matches is giving them hope. it'll be interesting to see how palmeiras adjusts without figueiredo 🤷‍♂️.

I think Flamengo got a bad deal with that red card in the quarterfinals 🤷‍♂️💔. I mean, they still managed to come from behind and win on penalties, but five points lead in the league table is a lot of pressure 💪🏼. On the other hand, Palmeiras' comeback against Liga Deportiva was insane! 😲 I mean, 3-0 down at home and then winning 4-0 away... that's a massive turnaround 🔥.

But wait, isn't Palmeiras without their midfielders? 🤔 How can they even compete with Flamengo in the final? 🤷‍♂️ And what about Weverton returning from his injury? 🤞 Will he make a difference? 🤔 I'm so confused now... 😂
