Drew Brees, Philip Rivers, Larry Fitzgerald Among Pro Football Hall of Fame Modern-Era Semifinalists

Five notable players have been selected as modern-era semifinalists for the Class of 2026 Pro Football Hall of Fame. Quarterbacks Drew Brees and Philip Rivers, along with wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, tight end Jason Witten, and running back Frank Gore, made it to this stage in their first year of eligibility.

Brees, who holds second place all-time for career passing yards (80,358) and touchdowns (571), spent five seasons with the San Diego Chargers before signing with the Saints in 2006. He went on to win Super Bowl XLIV as MVP after defeating Peyton Manning and the Colts in 2009. A 13-time Pro Bowler, Brees also earned AP Offensive Player of the Year honors twice.

Fitzgerald's impressive career statistics (1,432 receptions for 17,492 yards) place him second all-time, behind only Jerry Rice. He spent his entire 17-year tenure with the Arizona Cardinals and was instrumental in their only Super Bowl appearance following the 2008 season.

Rivers, a seven-time Pro Bowler, ranks seventh all-time in passing yards (63,440). He is also a two-time NFL Comeback Player of the Year winner. The Chargers quarterback led his team to multiple playoff appearances during his tenure.

Witten and Gore round out the semifinalists. Witten, one of the most prolific tight ends in history with 1,228 receptions for 13,046 yards, was an All-Pro twice and a second-team All-Pro three times.

Gore's impressive rushing statistics (16,000 yards) place him third all-time in career rushing yards. He had nine seasons with over 1,000 yards rushing and five Pro Bowl selections during his eight-year tenure.

The Modern Era semifinalists will be reduced to the final 15 finalists, who will be voted on before the Super Bowl in February. This class includes four returning players who have already secured spots in the final group: Willie Anderson, Torry Holt, Luke Kuechly, and Adam Vinatieri.

omg i'm so hyped for the next pro football hall of fame induction lol these 5 guys are some legends in the sport Drew Brees is like a passing masterclass waiting to happen ๐Ÿคฏ and Larry Fitzgerald is insane with all those receptions!

i wish they had more info on philip rivers though, he seems like an underdog candidate ๐Ÿค” i mean we know he's awesome but not as much as some other guys. anyway, it's gonna be interesting to see who makes it into the final 15 finalists ๐Ÿคž

omg I was really hoping to see more ppl on this list ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ Drew Brees is def one of the Gs tho, all that passing yardage is insane! ๐Ÿ“ˆ Philip Rivers is underrated in my opinion, people always talk about Rivers as if he's not as good as other QBs. ๐Ÿค” Larry Fitzgerald is a legend, 17 yrs with one team is crazy ๐Ÿ’ฏ Jason Witten is like the ultimate tight end, 1,228 receptions and counting ๐Ÿคฏ I'm kinda surprised Frank Gore made it tho, don't get me wrong he's still an all-time great but... ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

I THINK IT'S AMAZING THAT DREW BREESE IS ONE OF THE SEMIFINALISTS!!! HE'S SUCH A CLASSIC QUARTERBACK WHO LED THE SAINTS TO A SUPER BOWL WIN AND BROKE SO MANY RECORDS ALONG THE WAY ๐Ÿคฏ. LARRY FITZHERITTLD IS ALSO A DESERVING CANDIDATE, WITH THOSE INSANE RECEIVING STATISTICS! BUT WHAT'S REALLY COOL ABOUT THIS CLASS IS THAT IT FEATURING PLAYERS FROM DIFFERENT TEAM AND ERAS, SHOWCASING THEIR SKILLS IN VARIOUS WAYS ๐Ÿˆ. AND CAN YOU BELIEVE THERE ARE ONLY 4 RETURNING PLAYERS ALREADY SECURED SPOTS? I'M HYPED TO SEE WHO MAKES THE FINAL CUT!!!

omg cant believe Drew Brees is a semifinalist lol 80k+ passing yards is wild how does he still do it? ๐Ÿคฏ philip rivers is prob gonna make it in too, hes always been a clutch QB like that 13 pro bowls is insane tho larry fitzgerald is getting the love but what about steve smith sr or marvin harrison ?? they both had way more receptions and yards than fitz lol.

I'm not sure about Drew Brees making it to the Hall of Fame ๐Ÿค”. I mean, his numbers are insane, no doubt about that ๐Ÿ’ฏ. But he was also a bit of a system player in New Orleans, if you know what I mean. The Saints had some incredible teams during his time there, but he never really led them to greatness without some otherworldly talent around him ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. Still, it's hard to deny the dude's achievements โ€“ 80k+ yards and 571 TDs? Unbelievable! ๐Ÿš€

Can you believe these modern-era semifinalists? Drew Brees is still my man ๐Ÿคฏ! I mean, 80k+ passing yards and over 500 TDs? Unbelievable! And Fitz is right up there with the GOATs too ๐Ÿ˜‚. Rivers has been on a wild ride, and Witten's stats are insane... I think this semifinalist group is gonna make it easy for them to get in ๐Ÿคž

OMG I'M SO EXCITED FOR THIS YEARS PRO FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME CLASS!!! ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿ’ฅ Drew Brees and Philip Rivers are like my GOAT QBS of all time!!! How can they not get in?! Larry Fitzgerald is already a legend with those insane reception numbers ๐Ÿคฏ Jason Witten is so underrated though, his career stats are insane! ๐Ÿ™Œ And Frank Gore is the real MVP when it comes to rushing yards - 16,000+ yards is like whoa!!!! ๐Ÿ’ช

๐Ÿค” I'm kinda surprised to see Drew Brees making it this far so early on. The guy's stats are insane, no doubt about that! ๐Ÿ“Š But what really impressed me is the consistency he had throughout his career. 13 Pro Bowls? That's a lot of recognition for one player. ๐Ÿ’ช I also gotta give it up to Larry Fitzgerald, dude's been killing it since day one. His longevity and production numbers are just incredible ๐Ÿคฏ.

As for Philip Rivers, I love how he's still getting respect despite his age. He's like the ultimate comeback story! ๐Ÿ˜Ž Jason Witten and Frank Gore too - they both had amazing careers that deserve some serious recognition. And Willie Anderson, Torry Holt, Luke Kuechly, and Adam Vinatieri are all returning players who've already secured spots in the final group? That's just awesome! ๐Ÿ™Œ

omg i just watched a super bowl recap from 2009 ๐Ÿคฉ drew brees is like a legend man! i was wondering how he did it all without getting hurt, but apparently he's been taking care of himself pretty well ๐Ÿ‘ philip rivers seems cool too, i need to check out some of his games. what's the deal with these semifinalists tho? are they voting on who gets in or is it like a surprise announcement ๐Ÿค”

๐Ÿค” I'm not surprised to see Drew Brees' name on this list, considering how long he played and the accolades he received during his career ๐Ÿˆ. But what really gets me is that Philip Rivers is being snubbed in my opinion ๐Ÿ‘Ž. I mean, seven Pro Bowls and two Comeback Player of the Year awards are no joke! ๐Ÿ˜‚ And Larry Fitzgerald's stats are insane ๐Ÿคฏ. Jason Witten and Frank Gore are solid choices too, but I think some people might be underestimating Rivers' impact on his team during his time with the Chargers ๐Ÿ’ช. Let's see how it all plays out in February and hope the voters give him the recognition he deserves ๐Ÿ˜….

๐Ÿค” these guys are basically locks for the hall of fame - Drew Brees' stats are insane! 80,358 passing yards is crazy ๐Ÿคฏ, and to think he only played like 15 seasons, wow ๐Ÿ’ช. And Larry Fitzgerald's reception numbers are insane too! ๐Ÿ‘ I mean, 1,432 receptions in 17 years is some next level stuff. And Philip Rivers has been so consistent throughout his career, 63,440 passing yards is no joke ๐Ÿ“ˆ. The fact that Jason Witten and Frank Gore made it to the semifinals also says a lot about their longevity and achievements in the game ๐Ÿ™Œ

Ugh, can we talk about the Pro Football Hall of Fame website for a sec? ๐Ÿ™„ I tried to check the voting progress but it's always stuck on "processing..." . Like, come on guys! Get it together. And why do they have to make us wait till February to know who made the cut?! Can't they just give us some updates every now and then?

And btw, have you seen Drew Brees' stats? ๐Ÿคฏ The guy is a legend, but I'm still waiting for them to add his jersey number (9) to the Hall of Fame website. It's like, it's been years! ๐Ÿ˜’

OMG, can't wait for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026 ๐Ÿคฉ! Drew Brees, Philip Rivers, and Larry Fitzgerald are my top picks so far ๐Ÿ’ช. Brees is a total legend, man - 80k+ passing yards and 571 TDs? Unbelievable! ๐Ÿคฏ Meanwhile, Rivers has been on fire with those comeback wins ๐Ÿ˜ฒ. And can we talk about Fitz's receptions record? 17,492 yards? That's insane! ๐Ÿ“Š What do you guys think? Who'll make the cut for the final 15? ๐ŸŽ‰ #PFHOF #HallOfFameVibes #FootballLegend

Man, I'm loving this news! ๐Ÿคฉ Drew Brees and Philip Rivers are my guys, we've seen those two put on a show on the field for years. Larry Fitzgerald is a total legend, his stats are insane! 17,492 yards is crazy. And Frank Gore, that dude's still getting it done even at 38. Jason Witten's tight end skills are underrated, he should be more famous.

I'm really glad they're keeping it to just the modern era, I don't want to see any old-school players get snubbed. Willie Anderson, Torry Holt, Luke Kuechly, and Adam Vinatieri all deserve the recognition too, great choices so far. Now we just gotta wait for February to find out who's gonna make it into the final 15... this is gonna be a tough decision! ๐Ÿ˜…

I'm intrigued by the modern-era semifinalists selected for the Pro Football Hall of Fame ๐Ÿค”. It's interesting to see a mix of quarterbacks, receivers, tight ends, and running backs vying for induction ๐Ÿ‘€. Drew Brees, with his impressive career stats, is definitely a strong contender ๐Ÿ’ช. I'd love to see how his semifinalists' careers stack up against some of the other legends in the game ๐Ÿˆ. Larry Fitzgerald's longevity and consistency are also noteworthy ๐Ÿ™Œ. The competition for this class is going to be fierce ๐Ÿ”ฅ.

OMG, can you believe how slow it's taking to get these guys in? I mean, Drew Brees is literally one of the all-time greats, 80k+ passing yards?! And Larry Fitzgerald is like, a lock for the Hall of Fame too ๐Ÿคฏ. But what's with the semifinalists stage being so lengthy? Five years already? It feels like they're trying to milk it outta us ๐Ÿ˜ด. And don't even get me started on how they always have to announce these groups in batches... can't we just get a straight answer already?! ๐Ÿ™„

๐Ÿค” I think it's awesome that these legends are being considered for the Pro Football Hall of Fame ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿ’ช Drew Brees is such a humble guy, he deserves all the recognition he can get ๐Ÿ˜Š Philip Rivers has been underrated in my opinion, always consistent and clutch when it matters most ๐Ÿ’ฏ Larry Fitzgerald's career numbers are insane, what a dominant force on the field ๐Ÿคฉ Jason Witten's longevity is incredible, he played at an elite level for over 15 years ๐Ÿ’ฅ And Frank Gore's rushing yards record will be hard to beat, he's still one of the best RBs in history ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ Can't wait to see who gets inducted next February! ๐Ÿ‘€

Wow ๐Ÿ˜ฎ those stats are insane! Drew Brees holding second place all-time for career passing yards is crazy. And Larry Fitzgerald's receptions and yards are like wow how did he do it? ๐Ÿคฏ 17 years with the Cardinals, that's dedication. Interesting to see Philip Rivers too, two NFL Comeback Player of the Year winner, what an amazing come back story.

OMG, I'm like so hyped about Drew Brees makin' it to the Modern Era semifinals!!! ๐Ÿคฉ He's literally one of my all-time fave QBs! I mean, have you seen his stats? 80k+ passing yards and 571 TDs?! ๐Ÿ™Œ And he won Super Bowl XLIV as MVP, for real! ๐Ÿ’ฅ I'm rootin' hard for him to get inducted into the Hall of Fame next year! ๐Ÿˆ๐Ÿ‘
