Zac Gallen projected to sign 2-year, $45 million deal with NL contender

Arizona Diamondbacks Pitcher Zac Gallen May Get Second Chance on Team-Friendly Contract Amid Disappointing Season

The Arizona Diamondbacks are facing a critical decision this offseason as they try to retain their top pitcher, Zac Gallen. Despite struggling in his last season, Gallen remains the team's best bet for starting pitching. His injury-prone past and recent underwhelming performance raise concerns about his durability and ability to deliver consistently.

However, with the Diamondbacks' lack of depth at the back end of the rotation, they may be desperate enough to make Gallen an offer he can't refuse. A two-year deal worth $45 million could be on the table, which is a far cry from the one-year, $25 million contract the team gave Jordan Montgomery last offseason.

Montgomery's pact serves as a blueprint for how to structure a Gallen deal. The idea is that the Diamondbacks are willing to give up some money upfront in exchange for the potential rewards of having their ace pitcher on board. If Gallen can bounce back from his struggles and regain his form, he could help propel the team into a postseason push.

The worst-case scenario is that Gallen becomes an innings eater, but it's likely the Diamondbacks would rather have him as a legitimate ace. The team has the financial resources to make this type of deal work, and it's worth considering given their current situation.

Gallen's injury history does seem like a major concern, but I think they should give him another chance 🤔. They can use some kinda tiered contract system like this:

```
Year 1: $25m (like Montgomery)
Years 2-3: $20m/year if he stays healthy
Years 4-5: $15m/year if he's still good
```

It's better to pay him more upfront than risk losing him to free agency and not getting a replacement 🤷‍♂️. Plus, having Gallen as the ace would give them a solid foundation for the team. Let's hope he can bounce back from that rough season 💪

🤔 So I think the D-backs are kinda crazy for considerin' givin' Gallen a big contract 🤑. He's been injury-prone for years and had a pretty rough season last year 😬. But at the same time, they don't have anyone else like him in their rotation, so it's a tough call. If he can bounce back and be his old self 🎉, that'd be awesome! But if not... well, I guess you just gotta roll with it 💪. One thing for sure is that Gallen's gonna want big bucks after this offseason 😅

I guess it's always a good idea to pay a pitcher like Gallen to play for his health... I mean, who needs longevity when you can have a short-term fix? 🤷‍♂️ On the bright side, if he does come back and surprises everyone with a stellar season, that $20 million a year is basically free money 💸.

I think Zac Gallen still got some life left in him 🤔. One year ago he was pitching lights out, but last season was a total bust. Maybe the Diamondbacks just need to give him another chance to prove himself 👍? They've gotta be thinking that if he can stay healthy and throw 180 innings or more, it'll pay off big time 💸. I mean Jordan Montgomery got a sweet deal last offseason and Gallen could get something similar 🤑. Let's see what the winter brings! ⚾

🤔 think gallen gets 2nd chance cuz diamondbacks need someone like him or they'll get destroyed in playoffs 🚀 his 2022 season was insane 💥 45 mil 2 yrs sounds decent idk if he can stay healthy tho, but monty's contract is a good reference point 🤑

lol what's next? gonna offer Gallen a lifetime contract 🤣 2 years and $45 million is already crazy talk, can't wait to see how much they'll have to shell out if he somehow comes back strong 💸 the diamondbacks are in no position to be picky at this point, but a guy like gallen deserves better than just being an innings eater 🤷‍♂️

I think its crazy how desperate teams can get when they know they need someone like Gallen. I mean, 2 years and $45 million is a lot of money for an injury-prone guy who didn't even have that great last season 🤷‍♀️. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of having him as your ace pitcher, but isn't it better to be safe than sorry? Shouldn't they be looking for someone who's more consistent and durable? Still, if Gallen can pull off a bounce back, that would be amazing for his career 😊.

Omg I'm so down for Zac Gallen to get that second chance 🤩💪! He's still got that fire in his arm and if he can just stay healthy, watch out! 2 yrs/$45m is a pretty steep price tho 🤑 but I guess it's worth it for the Dbacks to have their ace back. They need someone like him to carry them through the tough times 💯🔥
